DO YOU BELONG WITH US?

There is a common bond that exists between the men who have shared the military experience: A shared sense of duty and a common belief in a cause higher than self. Our nations' veterans chose to serve and by doing so, assumed all the risks associated with maintaining freedom. VFW members are here because they understand the true essence of America and its ideals and beliefs and the price they paid to be eligible to join the ranks of the VFW.

WORN FLAG DEPOSIT BOX

VFW Post 2350 has placed a worn flag deposit box outside the Post home at 721 VFW Drive,
for all who wish to dispose of their soiled, worn or tattered flags. In this way, the VFW can retire them
in a dignified manner as prescribed for U.S. Flags in the bylaws and regulations of the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
and the U.S. Government Flag Code Regulations, Title 36, Chapter 10, Section 176-8K.
U.S. flags should never be disposed of in a disrespectful manner such as placing them with your
trash collection. The deposit box is for U.S. FLAGS and all other flags.
NOTE: While public burning ceremonies are never a good idea, because no matter how well intentioned and patriotic the ceremony might be, it is still flag burning and should not be made a public spectacle. Also, the noxious fumes emitted from burning flags made of synthetic materials poses a health hazard to spectators as well as violating certain Fire Ordinances. Those involved in retiring flags, should wear protective masks and avoid fumes. The flags we collect, are respectfully retired through an agreement with our local mortuary in a high heat filtered crematorium. NOTE: 8-7-2013 The mortuary has informed us that they are no longer able to burn our flags. We are currently seeking other alternatives any suggestions or help from the public is appreciated please contact Post Color Officer Chuck Sanders at 738-4150.
